Systems

SystemsDAK Equipment & Engineering works with customers to design and provide integrated material handling systems that benefit the customer and his operation, and help the customer achieve specific business objectives. These systems include complex conveyor systems, pick modules, and storage rack systems. Designing and building systems is complex and detail-oriented work, involving collection and analysis of information about a customer's operation. We use the results of this process to design and build systems that take the customer closer to his objectives: increasing storage capacity, improving order picking productivity, and general operational improvements. Our in-house CAD and CAE capabilities, coupled with extensive industry experience and application expertise, allow for us to bring many resources to bear on a customer's project. DAK will ensure that your project meets applicable codes and industry standards, and that safety is a priority in design.

We strongly believe in bringing value-added solutions to a customer's business problems. The benefits DAK Equipment & Engineering brings to a customer can best be summarized by the following statement: Every step we take on a project must bring a customer closer to their business goals.

EQUIPMENT

EquipmentDAK Equipment & Engineering supplies a large array of material handling equipment, ensuring that we have an appropriate solution to a specific requirement. We offer all types of rack systems, pick modules, basic shelving and modular drawer storage, mezzanines, guard rail systems, pre-engineered offices, overhead cranes, conveyor systems, specialty equipment and general shop and warehouse equipment. We believe in using the highest-quality, most innovative and forward-thinking manufacturers in our industry and forge strong partnerships with these companies to bring you the most cost-effective, highest-quality equipment and products available. We generally install all equipment that we provide, although customers are free to install it themselves. For a complete list of equipment we provide and manufacturers that we partner with, please ask your account representative or project engineer.

ENGINEERED SYSTEMS

Some of the systems we typically recommend and provide for customers include:

Engineered Rack and Storage Systems

Engineered Rack and Storage SystemsMany rack systems, even selective rack, are engineered systems. They require careful consideration of major constraints and design criteria such as the unit loads being stored, the building to surround the system, and the lift equipment to be used. Often, computer aided engineering programs must be used to ensure the correct design. Seismic areas complicate matters further. Column section of frames and material gauge of steel used becomes much more critical in engineered systems. Drive-in, pushback and flow-through rack systems require careful attention to detail, and due to the high costs of these systems mistakes cannot be made. DAK Equipment is experienced in these applications, and provides equipment and systems at a very competitive price.

Pick Modules

Pick ModulesWhen customers have high order volumes and require maximum order picking through-put, they often turn to pick modules. To draw together the systems required to effectively implement pick modules, true systems integration is required. Hundreds or thousands of hours are required for the design and on-site management of the installation and start-up. Highly engineered rack systems, pallet flow, push-back systems, carton flow, deck systems, conveyor systems with accumulation and sortation, pick-to-light technology and advanced control systems must all be designed and come together as an integrated system. Lighting, sprinkler, data, phone, trash removal and stairwell systems must be considered as well. Design criteria, project scope, customer expectations, engineering and costing become extremely critical due to the high cost of potential errors.

Conveyor Systems

Conveyor SystemsWhether it is a system that encompasses complex merges, accumulation and sortation or a straight run of belt conveyor, DAK Equipment & Engineering can handle the project. Distribution and order picking conveyor systems, or accumulation pallet conveyor with multiple pick-off points - there are many applications that distribution centers require that we can implement for your company.

Multi-tier Shelving Systems

Multi-tier Shelving SystemsTwo and three level shelving systems often have some elements of pick modules and mezzanines in them. In these types of systems, the customers storage requirement is the primary driving factor, with productivity the secondary factor. DAK will design and build the system, handling all phases of the project.

Mezzanines and Pre-engineered Offices

Mezzanines and Pre-engineered OfficesTo create usable space, these systems may require detailed planning and design depending on the application. DAK Equipment uses very high quality systems for these applications, making the installation go smoothly and leaving the end-user extremely pleased with the final product. Most customers do not want to sit in a poor quality office or see their employees sitting in one. Likewise, customers generally prefer mezzanines that are extremely solid and stable, instead of being designed to the very minimum requirement of the project. The approach we take to these projects is as if we will be using the office or mezzanine, and we make sure the customer is more than satisfied after we leave their facility.

Guard Rail

Interlake Mecalux's Intergard 50 guard rail guards equipment against damage and abuse in the industrial workplace wherever heavy duty, highly visible protection is required. Intergard 50 guard rail will provide years of high durability protection for your rack, machinery, and other vulnerable equipment from damage by forklifts and other vehicles. Rails are made using proven Interlake roll-formed technology for superior strength and rigidity; carriage bolts are used for rail connections, simplifying installation. Continuous welds on the rail mounts and base, as well as the use of carriage bolts, makes for an attractive, debris-free guard rail unit. Versatile rail and post sizes make Intergard 50 guard rail adaptable to any application. Rails are available in lengths of 4' to 10', and post heights are available for either single or double rail installation, and in-end, corner, and intermediate configurations. Columns are made up of 5" x 5" x 3/16" structural tubing 17" high (single rail) or 43" high (double rail). 11 ga. x 11" high rail is mounted flush with the post to eliminate catch points. A large 12" x 12" base plate ensures the guard rail is securely fastened to the floor. And anchors measure 5/8" x 4-3/4". Radiance safety yellow paint is used for maximum visibility.
